AMC's "The Walking Dead"

The fan-made video below is rapidly going viral, and for good reason. "Fan made" is a very loose term in this instance, as it is truly professional-level work... and has gotten me excited about AMC's newest series titled "The Walking Dead." Based on a popular comic of the same name, the story chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. Unlike most zombie movies, the story actually deals with the characters of the survivors, developing them over time as they continue to fight for survival. Check out the video below, I'm pretty excited to check out the show after watching it.

Schoolism

Schoolism. People know very little about the awesome classes that are offered here, nor how it works. I stumbled on it a little less than a year ago and fell instantly in love. It is basically a professional mentorship for the particular artistic area you're interested. Pre-recorded lectures and assignments are set every week, and the instructor will address your work in a really personalized, one-on-one fashion you can't get anywhere else. Offered as one-shot classes, the mentors and classes are updated all the time and have a wide (and ever-growing) range to choose from.

I've already taken a Comic Book drawing and industry-prep course here, and am now working on a ZBrush course with Michael Defeo. To find out more about them, check out the link below. If you're interested in joining a course, be sure to use their awesome new Referral Program they have up and running. The classes are pricy, but the experience is well worth it.

House of Secrets Not So Secret Anymore

Nice! Not but a few days ago, a friend told me that "our" comic store, House of Secrets, was featured on G4 by Blair Butler. Here's the footage they just put up. Now you have some idea as to what one of my new nerd-haunts looks like.

Whatsa Nerd Forge?

Yes... I am blogging. In a world where everyone blogs, about everything, I've long debated bothering to jump into the fray. I've little interest in a "public journal" and haven't really been plugged into anything enough to start ranting. Until now. What's changed, you ask?

My being hired by Nickelodeon, and the consequential move to Burbank, CA, has planted me smack-dab in the middle of nerd-central. As such, I thought I'd start sharing some of the quite nerdy experiences out here for the benefit of the folks back on the east coast. What to expect: random thoughts on games, movies, art, comics and heck... even food. Everything, however, will be heavily tinted by nerd. Don't say you weren't warned...
